Day 1- Travel Day

Today was a long and tiring day.  We had to wake up early at 4:30 in the morning to start traveling, and we didn't finally get to Panama until around 8 that night.  Travel days have always been hard for me because it feels like you are sitting and waiting forever, going from one place to another, and the day just seems to drag on.  By the time we got to Panama I was exhausted.  But once we finally arrived, it felt nice to take a shower, settle in, and finally relax a little.  After such a long day of traveling, it was good to just slow down and enjoy being here.  It made me excited to start the rest of the week and see what this experience in Panama will be like.

Showing up fully means being present and really trying my best to learn and help while we are here.  It means paying attention, being respectful to the community, and doing whatever I can to support the team.  I want to take this seriously and make the most out of the experience because it isa great opportunity to learn.

I am bringing a postive attitude, an open mind, and a willingness to learn.  I know things might be different than what I am used to, so I want to stay flexible and patient.  I also want to be kind and respectful to everyone we meet.

Our work can help people in the community who may not always have access to healthcare or dental care.  Even helping with surveys or assisting in the clinic can make a difference.  Hopefuly our persence also shows that people care and want to help support their community.

I can take ownership by asking questions, paying attention, and helping whenever I can.  I also want to step out of my comfort zone and try new things so I can learn more.  Taking notes and reflecting on what i see will also help me grow as a nuring student.

I want to show respect, kindness, and professionalism.  This means working well with my team, listening to others, and treating every patient with car and dignity.  I also want to represent nursing students in a postive way.

I am grateful for this opportunity because not everyone gets the chance to travel and help peoplle in another country.  This experience will help me learn more about healthcare and different cultures.  I know it will also help me become a better nurse in the future.

  1. It was such a long day of traveling, you did great being flexible. I love your youtube videos, what a good idea to document this travel adventure. I think we all learned so much about the healthcare culture here and how different it is.
